August 5

Firewall and undercarriage are painted. The firewall almost looks like it was built that way on purpose now. It's nice to see it starting to come together. Except now I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to make a dash and door panels.

August 3

Huge day today. This is one of the days the Cowboy has been waiting for since we started the Monte. The Monte is on the Impala!

The middle minon was welding today.

August 1

The dashboard has moved again. It has to be moved farther back to make everything fit, but it finally does. Patches can be put on the firewall and the gaping holes filled in.

The eldest is tasked with cutting out patches. He did a pretty good job for something beyond his normal experience. I get to bondo the swiss cheese seam in the trunk.

Once again the dash has been taken out and put back in. This time Cowboy just tacked in the braces instead of solidly welding it in place. Which is good, because he's going to have to take it out again one more time.

Bracket positioning again.

July 28

Cowboy is back from his travels again and hard at work on the Monte. Today he cut out the rust out from the trunk, removed the bracket from the steering column and cut out part of the firewall. The firewall has to be cut to get the air conditioner to fit. I spent my time grinding the rust out of the trunk seam.
