September 28

I know, this is a huge jump ahead in time, but it has been incrementally slow lately. The kids started school, the middle one is back in cross country, it's been hot, and I traveled with Cowboy to LA last week.

We're almost done with the exterior body work. Now it's more glass and more sanding. I hate sanding fiberglass. I swear, even with long sleeves and my entire body covered, I'm still itchy.

You can see the car is taking shape finally and is quite jaunty. Cowboy has done some very nice body work on this. Including cutting out the other hole for the exhaust in the back bumper.

August 11

Driver's license day! Girl minion is getting her learner's permit.
Waiting for her test to be graded.

Middle minion moving in for support. He was supposed to get his restricted license today too, but was THREE days short of being able to move to his restricted license.

Girl minion passed her test and joins the ranks of the licensed drivers.

After a day of shopping at Hot Topic and a visit to Build a Bear for the newest My Little Pony, I forced her to drive.

And then so did Cowboy.

August 4

So the girl minion decided on a car. We found a great deal on a 2002 Trans Am in Oklahoma so it's off on a field trip to retrieve it. It will be her early birthday present and she is insanely excited.
I would have been at her age too. Heck, any almost 14 year old would be this excited to get a Trans Am.

Washing her windows.

The trip home however, like everything involved repairs. The blinkers didn't work. We had to stop halfway home and replace the flasher.

Back home, working on the light wiring.

Waiting to ride with the t-tops down.

July 31

Yes, I do work on my car. I know it may not seem that way, but I can't shoot photos of myself and get dirty at the same time. Here I'm undercoating the wheel wells.

July 27

The fiberglass work begins. This proves to be the itchiest, most annoying thing we've done on any car project. Have I mentioned how much I like sanding? It's even better when it involves fiberglass.  We will have many discussions over making a 1999 body kit fit on at 1981 Nissan and how this may not have been the best choice in hind sight.

This is the initial work on the front bumper.

July 18 and 19

Body kit is cut and on the car. Problem though, after driving it out, the car is too low to get out of the driveway without dragging. Cowboy has to raise up the rear bumper for better clearance.

First try. I should add, I swear Cowboy said back STRAIGHT out.

Second try. The rear bumper is too low and is going to need adjustment.

Third try. Bumper is adjusted.

July 10

Christmas in July! The body kit arrived!

July 7

Body kit parts are starting to arrive. First up is the fender flares which we ordered from JDM Flares. They are fantastic and look good on the car.

The flares arrived quickly and when we had to return the front flares to get the larger flares, the return was easy with a quick turn around. Did I mention how I LOVE them on the car?

June 22

Look, we built a deck/ramp! Okay, it wasn't just the Cowboy and I. It was Cowboy, our brother-in-law, Wild Bill, Wild Bill's brother, and myself.

His parents finally moved just a few blocks from us instead of living in another town. We had to build a ramp/deck combination so that Cowboy's dad could get into the house. Yes, we did build it in a day, that's how we roll.
