July 22

Dry fit of the seat, steering wheel and console. Cowboy made me crawl in and out of the car at least three times. Which would have been fine, but it's been over 100 all week and leather seats are hot.

The performance exhaust came in this week and has been installed on the Impala chassis. It has a snazzy new cold air intake.

Cowboy also made patches for the Monte frame. Welding in this heat is just miserable.

The Cowboy cut out part of the Impala trunk to put into the Monte. It has the hangers for the gas tank already mounted to it. He then cut a hole in the Monte truck to mount it to later.

He also brought a huge half inch thick piece of bondo inside from the Monte. Once again, we see the amazing body work skills of the guy who restored this car and the Charger before we got them. He, not the Cowboy, but the bad bodywork dude , applied bondo to the trunk seams. To seal them.

Cowboy gets to do some patchwork to fix those. This also let us know, that yes, we will need entirely new quarter panels.  Thanks bad bodywork dude! Can't wait to see what other surprises you have in store for us on the Charger next year.

July 11

Dash is completely out and the firewall has been cut away from the Impala. It's just a shell now.

July 10

Today we took the Impala dash. This took both of us and the whole evening.

July 9

We've had an amazing break in the weather, if only it would stay that way. We're pulling the dash out of Monte to get it ready for the modified Impala dash. Also we've removed the rest of the interior pieces including the door panels, kick panels and part of the head liner. Cowboy and the girl painted the Impala frame

The new rotisserie is put to the test. It took us a few tries to get it placed right so we could move the chassis out, but it's done. And I have a weird space chicken in my driveway. As for pictures of the rotisserie build, Cowboy built it while I was at work so no snapshots.

Mounting the body on the rotisserie

The chassis is free from the body! Even better, no one was injured.
