Racing in South Dakota

Cowboy's sister uploaded our race at Flags and Wheels in Rapid City South Dakota to YouTube so now I can share it with all of you. The crash with Cowboy and I happens at around 5:50. I had to slow down so I didn't hit anyone else, which caused me to spin out and be right in Cowboy's path.

Only Because it's the General Lee

This is Auto Trader's newest commercial. I'm not one to normally share a commercial on here or anywhere for that matter, but this one is the General Lee and goes perfectly with our trip. I cringe when I watch it though just because there aren't that many of them anymore.

If you pay attention, you can see they switch from getting notices about a Charger, to a Challenger as they're driving. Make sure you check out the second video, which is the making of the commercial. It's cool to see how they actually jumped the car.

Vacation time!

This year, we went to South Dakota with Cowboy's family to celebrate his parent's 40th wedding anniversary. It turned out to be a fun trip.

We saw a car show our first night. Minions were overjoyed. They LOVE car shows.

We also raced Indy go-karts at Flags and Wheels in Rapid City. Cowboy managed to T-bone me hard enough to knock the glasses off of his face and give him a mild case of whiplash. I ended up with impressive bruises on my legs from the steering column. I couldn't see who hit me, but for some weird feeling I knew it was probably him. He beat me by a second in lap times, but I'm still a better driver.

We also visited Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, Dinosaur Park, Cosmos Mystery Area, the Alpine Slide, Keystone and Rushmore cave. On the way to Mount Rushmore, we surprised the minions with a visit to a car zoo, Motion Unlimited Museum and Car Lot. Much groaning was heard from the backseat. See, middle minion is so thrilled to visit the car zoo. He will get into an argument with his brother in about 10 minutes.

This car, this car is evil. All of the other cars have no vibe, but this one, EVIL.

Apache!

I think the best car zoo was one we found on the way home. We kept seeing signs for Pioneer Auto. One of the signs mentioned the General Lee and Cowboy mentioned we should stop. He did briefly reconsider when he thought they just had the General Lee and not a lot else.

"You do know they just had a sign that said they had 250 cars?"
"Really? Well, we could stop then"

The place is huge. I think we spent over an hour and closer to two there. Even the minions had fun. It's a combination car zoo, antique museum. With the holy grail of Chargers, one of the original General Lee's. Look at the joy on Cowboy's face, he's so happy.

He was just as happy when he found the Superbird. I just don't like this car. He loves it and still keeps trying to convince me that the Charger should look like this.

All in all, great trip for cars and fun things to do. We did come to the realization though, we need to stay busy so we don't spend our vacation wondering what we really should be doing instead. Because it's time to get home and see if the parts we ordered during our trip are in.

Drive shaft is in the car, weld patches finished and it's ready to drive. Well, not so ready since it still resembles a skateboard.

Look at how happy Cowboy is in this photo, you can tell he's excited.

Body patches. Eventually it will look like a totally different car.

In-between helping  Cowboy with the Nissan, I sewed a dress for the girl minion. Actually, I made two dresses, one for her and another for me, along with  4 vests for the boy minions in the past three weeks. The girl is modeling her vintage style sailor dress that she wore for her 8th grade promotion today. Who knew that sewing a car would make me more confident sewing clothes?

I also got this bit of awesomeness back. We had to have the drive shaft shortened so it would fit in the Nissan. I dropped it off at Power Drive in Wichita yesterday and they had it ready for me by 11 this morning. Look how beautiful that is!
